At a Startup Weekend, I joined a team working to simplify deployment of free and open-source software on cloud hosting providers like Amazon Web Services.
Over the course of the weekend, I was mostly involved in mocking up screens to explain the proposed service, lead people through first-time use, and show the status and history of what they had deployed.
After the weekend, four of the team members decided to continue and apply to Mass Challenge accelerator program in its launch year. Together we worked to focus and distill our goals and message for the application and pitch to the acceptance panels.
We were accepted into the program and spent the summer in the accelerator program working with mentors to prioritize our work, implement a pilot system, and handle legal and other necessities.
